Day 394 Man Walking BY

Another picture for my pictures taken while sitting on my front porch series. I noticed this man while I was walking up my front porch stairs and had to grab my camera out of it's bag quickly. I barely got it up and snapped this picture. It's a bit underexposed as I didn't even have time to check my settings. Oh well... I still like it.

Day 393 Washing the Dishes

Yes I have taken a picture of myself washing the dishes before, but this one is different. It has a nice greenish quality to it. Plus I wash the dishes almost everyday so it's something I see a lot! And subsequently need to photograph. And... it is the story of my life.

Day 392 In the Shadows

I took my dog Tyler for a very long walk and came across several people who were kind enough to let me take their picture. However I wasn't to happy with any of them. Then just as I crossed the street into my neighborhood I noticed this guy walking in and out of the light. As I neared he stood just outside the shadows. I asked him if he'd move into the light and he did allowing me to take a few pictures. He said he liked photography. I should have talked to him more and gotten his name as he seemed like a very nice guy, but I was tired and kind of wanted to get home.
I'm posting two pictures of him because I can't decide which I like best.

Day 391 post 2 The Drive Home

I was sleeping on the drive home from Monterey today and woke up just in time to snap these three pictures. I'm posting two times today because I delete everything I don't post, and I really love the scenic pictures taken while driving. They have a mysterious quality to them.

Day 391 Monterey

We took a trip to Monterey today to escape the drudges of our everyday lives. I snapped a few shots of people we passed or met while there.

Day 390 Guy on a Phone

You know why I call myself the worst photographer ever? Cause I love stuff like this. One frame taken while driving.

Day 389 Pictures of the Past, Siberian Huskys

I've been wanting a new puppy lately. All of the dogs I've had in my adult life have been from the pound, or strays that have showed up, or Tyler who was given to me by my friend. I've done what I could by spaying and neutering all my animals. This time around I think I want to get a dog that I have always dreamed of having, a Siberian Husky.
We had two of them growing up, Rocky and Missy. They had puppies often and I always dreamed of having my very own pick of the litter. It's a good thing I didn't I'm sure. But still the dream was there. I found a breeder and am going to e-mail them today about a puppy for next year. I thought it would be nice to show them pictures of the Huskies we had growing up, so I flipped through old photo albums and found these pictures of Rocky and Missy.
These pictures bring back so many memories of my family and our lives together.

The top picture is my mom and Missy, must be near Christmas.
The second from top is my sisters Connie and Wendy playing with the puppies. The puppies always brought so much fun and love with them. It was always sad to see them go.
The third picture from top is Rocky and Missy. If you look closely you can see another dog hiding behind them. That's Clyde an Afghan mix and probably my favorite dog of all time.
Below that is a group picture of Wendy, me and Connie with the puppies, my mom is standing near by.
The bottom two pictures were taken at our new house on the hill. You can see what a big beautiful dog Rocky is. That's him with me as a teenager sitting on the couch.

Day 388 Wayne Gets Wet

No I don't think I will ever tire of photographing water play. Is it an easy way to get a picture for my blog? Maybe. But I still like it.

Day 387 Seven gets a Bath

I've been wanting to get the shot of the wet dog shaking the water off after a bath for quite awhile now. I had tried it a couple of times but it hasn't worked out, or I've gotten a better picture for the day.
Anyhow, today was time for Seven's flea and tick bath so I thought I'd give it another try. Seven has a flea allergy so he must be kept flea and tick free. Which is fun for me as I love giving my dogs baths. Later when he's dry he'll get his new dose of K9advantix, which seems to be working much better than what we had last year. Seven is usually a shy dog and has only appeared on my blog twice so it's another plus for me to be able to feature him again.
The top photo is what I have been looking for and can't be any happier with it. The bottom two images were an unasked for shake by Seven in which I managed to get a couple of shots. I love how the suds and water mix to make the images water soaked.

Day 386 Isn't this the way it goes?

Always the woman struggling to bring home the groceries, while the man is out having fun with his motorbike.

Day 385 Mammogram Candy

My son bought me these suckers a few days ago to photograph. They remind me of what's it's like to have a mammogram. As prevalent as breast cancer is, I guess if you don't have a mammogram you are a sucker.

Day 384 Artists at Work

While driving home I made a stop for a quick photo for today. Young artists at work. These guys are only painting the top part of this building. Several different artists have contributed to this project.

Day 383 Jacy and Mike.... "KYLE"

While driving I noticed Jacy and stopped to take his picture. He was a very sweet boy who kindly consented. After leaving I thought for sure I wouldn't forget his name, but I did. I remembered it started with a J, had four letters and had a Y, so I looked up boys names and there you have it, Jacy. I believe it's right. Jacy.
I always drive by the flag in the bottom picture and think it would make a good picture if there was something red in it. And today I noticed Mike with his red bike so I stopped to take a picture. Mike quickly let me take a few then went on his way.

7-31-2010 I was driving the other day and the boy's name came to me, funny how that happens, it's Kyle! Starts with a K, has four letters and one of them is a Y. Oh wait I said it started with a J, well Maybe I'm wrong but I do believe it is Kyle.

Day 382 Jim, Richard, and Earl

While walking my dog Tyler I came upon the two ladies in the top picture. I asked them if I could take their picture and they said sure. Just then Jim came walking by and they insisted Jim be in the picture.
Continuing on my walk I saw two men sitting outside a building. I asked them for a picture and Richard said sure. I took two frames and the other gentleman not wanting to be in the picture got up and walked away.
Crossing the street I noticed Earl sitting outside a Der Weinerschnitzel. I snapped this picture of him on the sly, then laughing told him what I was doing. He let me take a few more, but I like this shot best.

Day 381 Covey... Good Times

It was so hot today I almost couldn't get out of the air conditioned house. But as it cooled it was fun to get out and give Covey a bath and take his picture.

Day 380 Water, will I ever tire of it?

No.
Actually I was exhausted today and almost didn't post a picture. But in the end a little water play was refreshing.

Day 379 What are you taking my picture?

I thought I'd set my camera on a tripod and see who I could photograph. Well I set it up in an obscure place and before I got what I was looking for I changed locations. As soon as I moved I saw someone walking by right where I wanted them. Thanks lack of patience.
The woman in the top picture came out to see what I was doing and made it perfectly clear she didn't like her picture taken. I can relate, I don't like my picture taken either.
I moved a few times before I ended up near the railroad tracks, where the guy in the middle made sure he was in my picture.
The guy in the bottom picture knew I was there, but he didn't care.

Day 377 Star Dust... Really... o.k. Not Really

Day 376 Honey on a Spoon

Day 375 Flowers

While on my visit to see my mom in Southern California I kept seeing flowers. I wished I had my lights and a place to photograph as I would have loved to pick a few. So today I drove to a local flower shop and picked out three flowers to photograph. These images are from two of the flowers.
While my lights were set up I decided to photograph a couple of other things as well. So I could post a couple of days and keep my days where they belong. It's not cheating as I did take pictures every day I was gone. It's just that they were taken with black and white film.

Day 374 Dead Dog

There are always dead animals on South Ninth Street. So much so that one of the business owners there often pays someone to burry them down by the river. This poor dog was probably missed as he must have been there for a very long time. When I photographed him the only thing that stood out from the pavement was his teeth.

Black and White

I've been out of town visiting with my mom. Each time I have gone out of town I try to still post pictures by going to the Junior College I attended, processing black and white film I've shot, and scanning a few pictures. This time I wasn't able to scan enough to carry me through the entirety of my visit. I did however take pictures every day, so the theory of my blog still exists.
I have been inspired to photograph more black and white which means given my busy schedule I might not be able to post a picture a day. We'll see.
My junior college instructor will allow me to take an independent study course with him so I can use the scanner and process film in the fall. Currently he allows me to do these things, but I need to allow actual students to use them first, and often times it means I cannot use them at all. So writing up a proposal sounds like a good idea, and will give me something to shoot for.

Day 373 Popeye

Popeye allowed me to photograph his dog and I took a picture of him. I don't think he was to happy about it, but sometimes all I think about is the picture.
