I was driving out of town when I spotted Joe walking along carrying bags of groceries. I stopped my jeep, jumped out and asked him If I could take his picture. He consented after I told him I did not work for the Modesto Bee. He told me he had never been married. I must have had a shocked look on my face as he began to explain he wasn't gay. That he liked women very much. In fact he used to live with two older women. They are both dead now he said, I live alone. He said he was born in February of 1929.
